Privacy Policy

Color Dropper is a Chrome extension for picking colors from web pages. This policy explains what data the extension and colordropper.xyz handle. In short: your data stays in your browser. It is not sent to us, and we never sell or share it.

What the extension stores

When you pick a color, the extension saves a history entry on your device with:

  • the color value
  • when you picked it
  • the address (URL) and title of the page you picked it from
  • any label you add and whether you pinned it

History is kept in Chrome's local extension storage and never leaves your device. Your settings (like color format and history size) are kept in Chrome's sync storage. If you have Chrome Sync turned on, Google syncs them between your browsers under Google's own privacy policy. Settings don't include any personal information.

Page screenshots

To show the eyedropper, the extension takes a screenshot of the visible tab, but only while the eyedropper is running on that tab. The screenshot is used to read pixel colors, stays in memory, and is thrown away when you finish. It is never saved or sent anywhere.

colordropper.xyz

The palette page on colordropper.xyz reads your history directly from the extension so it can be shown in your browser. That history is never uploaded to a server. A share link contains only the colors and labels you chose to share. They sit in the part of the URL after the "#", which browsers don't send to servers.

The website uses Google Analytics to count visits. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect standard usage data such as pages viewed, browser type and approximate location. See Google's privacy policy. The site also loads fonts from Google Fonts.

What we don't do

  • We don't run analytics or tracking inside the extension.
  • We don't sell, rent or share your data with anyone.
  • We don't use your data for advertising or creditworthiness.
  • We don't use your data for anything except the extension's color picking and history features.

Removing your data

Delete history entries or clear your history from the Color Dropper panel. Uninstalling the extension removes everything it has stored.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
